MODELING THE FUTURE FOR MORGAN STATE COMMUNICATION MAJORS
Creating a New School of Global Journalism & Communication Studies


Baltimore, MD---Morgan State University welcomes a new chair to the Department of Communication Studies, Mr. DeWayne Wickham. The former chair of A&T Institute for Advanced Journalism Studies has plans to help create a more advanced and widely recognized School of Communication and Journalism at Morgan State University.

In the coming months, Morgan State Communication Department will experience a major transition in the current communication department. In the new School of Global Journalism and Communication Studies, students will not only receive a great classroom education but they will also be able to apply their classroom knowledge to real world experience. Morgan States School of Global Journalism & Communication will break away from the College of Liberal Arts and allow Mr. DeWayne Wickham to become the Dean of the School.

Mr. DeWayne Wickham and Morgan State University will further propel Morgan State University Communication student’s experiences and prepare them to be top competitors in the job market. The new School of Communication and Journalism dynamic, interactive, and innovative program has plans to be implemented in the Fall 2013.

Mr. Dewayne Wickham received his Journalism Degree from the University of Maryland. Throughout his career he has worked for US News & World Report, The Baltimore Sun, WBAL-TV, CBS News, BET and USA Today, where he has written a syndicated column since 1985. Mr. DeWayne Wickham is the current Chair of the Communication Studies Program at Morgan State University.
